Agenda: Addressing Terrorism and Warfare as the Onsets of Regional Destabilization Post the Recent Tragedy in Kashmir

Welcome to the United Nations Security Council, a forum where unparalleled authority is matched by immense responsibility. This session is convened under the urgent shadow of a regional crisis of exceptional gravity. Mere hours after Pakistan initiated the large-scale military operation codenamed Operation Bunyan al-Marsus, renewed hostilities have erupted across the Line of Control, exacerbating an already volatile situation. The freeze date has been set at 10 May, 9:30 AM, marking a decisive point in this unfolding conflict.

Following the tragic incident in Pahalgam, the Kashmir issue has reignited tensions between India and Pakistan, raising serious concerns about regional destabilization. As a double delegation, you are now entrusted with the critical task of navigating the complex intersection of counter-terrorism, national sovereignty, and international peace. The world is closely watching, and the actions taken within this committee will shape the global response moving forward.

Letter from Chairperson

When I first joined an online Zoom MUN in August 2021, I had no idea what I was stepping into. I was awkward, unsure, hesitant to even say hello to someone new. I had never done anything truly meaningful up until then. But something about that very first committee, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, lit a fire. I walked out of it with a High Commendation, but more importantly, with a sense of validation. And that hunger to do more? It never left.

Fast forward to today, four years later, I chair the most powerful committee in the United Nations at Shishukunj MUN, while also serving as the Head of Technical Affairs for the conference. And when I look back, the growth feels surreal.

MUNs have shaped every part of me. Not just as a delegate or an orator, but as a person. I pushed myself into interschool MUNs, chased the fear of public speaking until it turned into a thrill, and finally reached the peak of my delegate journey by securing the Outstanding Delegate Award at Harvard MUN India 2024. That was the final chapter of my delegate story and the first chapter of something much bigger.

In 2024, I shifted to the other side of the table. My first time chairing, as Vice Chair of the Specialized Agency, was a complete shift in perspective. I worked alongside Arham Pahadia, the Secretary-General of this year’s conference. We became best friends, but beyond that, he gave me space to learn, to lead, and to believe that I belonged at the Chair’s desk. And that belief brought me here, to the UNSC.

Over the years, MUNs have gifted me more than just awards. I found true friendships. Hridayansh Sharma, our DG this year, became my gym bro after an interschool MUN. Nikunj Khandelwal was the first person I called a friend in this circuit, all the way back in DPSRMUN 2023. Colleagues like Aarush Asati, Apurva Acharya, Jahnvi Julka, and so many more became people I now trust and learn from every day.

UNSC isn’t a place for passive participation. It demands clarity, conviction, and composure. Every speech, every amendment, every silence—it all matters. You’re not just debating; you’re simulating diplomacy at its peak. Step up with courage, question without hesitation, and grow through the fire of negotiation. This committee will test you, push you, shape you. Let it.

MUN isn’t just a simulation. It is where you grow, where you connect, where you find your voice and your people. I owe it everything. My confidence, my character, and the circle I now call family.

Forever grateful
