About the Committee
Agenda Statement : Addressing the Impact of Natural Disasters and Climate Change on Children with Special Emphasis on Latin American and the Caribbean regions
Welcome to UNICEF, where delegates tackle crises that would make even Phineas and Ferb say, “Well, that escalated quickly”. Our agenda for this year is “Addressing the impacts of natural disasters and climate change on children, with special emphasis on the Latin American and Caribbean regions”. These challenges aren’t just dramatic, they’re real, rising, and far more dangerous than Holt trying to win “Ultimate Human/Genius” with a five-step plan and zero emotion, with consequences being far worse than not getting bragging rights.
From rising temperatures to extreme weather, children are often the most at risk, yet often the most overlooked. But like the 99, when things get tough, we come together. It may not be a precinct, but in this committee, you’re all detectives investigating, debating, and solving one of the greatest challenges of our time.
Letter from Chairperson
Dear Delegates, With immense excitement and pleasure, I, Tanish Jain, welcome you to the 10th iteration of the Shishukunj Model United Nations, where I’ll be serving as the Chairperson of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
I’m a 12th grader studying physics, chemistry, and mathematics along with physical education. Aside from academics, I’m passionate about aviation and aim to become a pilot someday. I wish to reach new heights both literally and figuratively. I enjoy playing video games in my free time, which has also taught me valuable lessons about focus, patience, and quick decision-making skills, which have greatly contributed to my academic and MUN endeavors. I believe that a little bit of fun in everything can turn something from infinitely boring to something you’d actually look forward to, and you can count on me to make sure this committee never feels like a drag.
The agenda of UNICEF for this year is Addressing the Impact of Natural Disasters and Climate Change on Children with Special Emphasis on Latin American and the Caribbean regions. This agenda focuses on highlighting the extreme vulnerabilities surrounding children due to Natural Disasters and Climate Change. This agenda allows the delegates to think critically and focus on different angles of the same problem and come up with elaborate solutions.
I look forward to meeting you all, and if you have any questions, feel free to contact me by any means necessary.
Wishing you all the best!!!
Tanish Jain
