Our agenda, “Reinforcing Global Measures to Promote the Inclusivity of Refugees with Special Emphasis on Agenda 2030 and Providing Support to Host Nations,” sounds heavy, doesn’t it? Good, because we’re here to disrupt, to dismantle barriers, to build bridges, and hopefully, even turn the refugee rule book on its head. We’re not just talking policy here, we’re talking people, purpose, and powerful collaboration. You are a significant voice in this committee that will shape the future. Let’s create tangible solutions because behind every statistic is a human being hanging in the balance waiting to be seen, to be heard, to receive a welcome, and to receive justice. Namaste Dear Delegates!
It is with immense pleasure that I would like to welcome you all on behalf of my entire bureau to the 10th iteration of the Shishukunj Model United Nations.
I am Aachman Mishra, an 11th grader who loves to binge watch movies and series on Netflix, adding songs to his never-ending playlist that already has 616 songs and is 32 hours long, and sometimes studying. I have been involved in MUNs since 8th grade. I’ve participated in about 6 conferences. I believe in giving it my all when I am involved in a particular project and that’s what I expect from all of you and that’s what’s my philosophy for this year’s committee of UNHCR. I whatsoever am an extremely friendly person, just not when I am just awakening up or when I have not fully completed my sleep (I just like sleeping, there’s just never enough sleep for me).
This year’s UNHCR is going to take a different take on the idea of refugees and their protection, and on the behalf of the bureau I can assure you, you are going to have a blast. Sometimes though we may leave you saturated, but remember the bureau is always there for you and is ready to help you. We also were in the position you might be. If we have to, we will send you multi paragraph essays in order to help you. I hope you all come out of this year’s MUN conference filled with knowledge and an entirely different idea about what refugees are and how they should be protected. I firmly instill my belief in all the delegates that they will do their best in making this committee of UNHCR successful this year. Your thoughts and contributions to the committee are invaluable, and help in shaping the committee’s flow and its success also depends on your hands. My mail is open to any queries that you may have that might arise in your curious minds. Wishing you all the very best for our conference.
